Good Samaritan app could make life-saving connections

I have just read this article on CBS News’ website which relates to the UK:

Basically it talks about a new app which was designed by Mark White, a doctor with London’s Air Ambulance service who realised that people in medical difficulties could be nearby to someone who could help them, but that those people who could help would never know about the emergency unfolding nearby.

Please let anyone you know who is a doctor, nurse, firefighter or any other healthcare professional about this app, as many more lives could be saved 🙂

My favourite motivational quotes

Sometimes it can be so easy to let the negative things in life simply swallow you up and let yourself become a shell of a person, or let them totally take over your life to the point that you don’t know who you are anymore. I’ve found that motivational quotes that other people have featured on their blog posts have really helped me to gain some clarity on where I should be going, or simply made me think about things in a totally different way.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.
Mark Twain

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says, “I’m possible!”
Audrey Hepburn

It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.
Abraham Lincoln

Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Dalai Lama

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.
Anne Frank

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
Helen Keller

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
Steve Jobs

I hope that these motivational quotes can help someone else, like they’ve helped me 🙂

This Guy Wants New Yorkers To Share The Love. And It Works.

I have been inspired by this video to make some postcards of my own, so watch this space… 🙂

Kindness Blog

Do you remember a time when you may have been sent a love letter? Or even last time you received a handwritten piece of mail from a real person? Probably not. Thanks to email and texting, the amount of genuine person to person mail correspondence has pretty much gone the way of the dinosaur.

But Matt Adams over at “Someone You Love” is on a mission to bring it back to life. According to his website, the project aims to “bring New Yorkers together by engaging them in positive activities in the unexpected places.” For the second installment of his three-part series, he asked New Yorkers how long it had been since they wrote someone a letter, then challenged them to change that.

Take a look at the heartwarming result.

“At one point throughout the day, it got so crowded that there weren’t enough places to sit and people…

Nonprofit Group Turns Bus Into a Bathroom for the Homeless

This is such a lovely and clever idea – love it! 🙂

Kindness Blog

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A nonprofit group is taking a novel approach to helping the homeless in San Francisco with a new bus that allows them to take a shower.

The former public transit bus has been outfitted with two full private bathrooms and offers hot showers, clean toilets, shampoo, soap and towels free of charge. The founder of the nonprofit Lava Mae mobile shower bus said she wanted to return a sense of dignity to those living on the streets.

Group Turns Bus Into Bathroom, Provides Homeless People With Hot Showers And Sense Of Dignity

“If you’re homeless, you’re living on the streets and you’re filthy, you’re trying to improve your circumstances, but you can’t interview for a job, you can’t apply for housing and you get disconnected from your sense of humanity,” Doniece Sandoval said. “So a shower just in of itself is amazing for people.”

Lava Mae says the bus is mobile, allowing it to reach homeless people scattered throughout the city…

Kindness Blog

promise or pay logo

by Jay Boolkin

Kindness Blog is full of fascinating and inspiring stories of people doing all kinds of wonderfully selfless gestures of goodwill. Small acts of kindness that have the power to make big changes, changes that the world really needs. If you are reading this blog, you are likely sensitive towards social problems and need little reminder of the injustices and vulnerabilities affecting so many people in the world today. Sometimes it can seem all too much and we may feel paralysed by all the pain and suffering. We can be compassionate and empathetic and still end up thinking, “it sucks but that’s the way things are.”

Too many people think they can do nothing, but they are wrong. It is when we…
