Poetry corner: Just Be

I haven’t written poetry since I was at school (I did my GCSEs in 1995 so this is clearly some time ago lol)

I used to love writing poetry. Though to me, poetry needed to rhyme. I know now that poetry does not need to rhyme, but the word ‘poetry’ always makes me think of rhyming phrases.

With that in mind, here is my poetic offering:

Just Be
When it seems that life is getting too much,

And you can’t seem to struggle free.
Just remember that life is short,
And just be.

When it’s much too hard to get out of bed,
Or you go on a spending spree,
Just remember that life is short,
And just be.

When it feels like giving in is your only option,
I’m simply not going to agree,
Just remember that life is short,
And just be.
